"..we've been humbled and heart broken by the stories of transformation and healing taking place within the context of a simple music lesson."
Growing up a simple farm girl from rural Whitley County, Indiana, my mom and sister passed down their love of music. Our limited family income only allowed for my sister to take piano lessons. When my hand-me-down middle school flute needed repaired or replaced, I gave up on music.
As an adult I've enjoyed the blessing of [attempting] to learn piano, voice, guitar & flute and joining in on worship teams. My kids have been privileged to enjoy learning piano, drums, voice, guitar and being in a rock/worship band. No, I'm not much of a musician, but I've enjoyed my musical journey and can literally get lost in music and worship. And I've seen first hand the impact of music in a child's life.
Then I met, fell in love with, and married a musician. A passionate, emotional man with a heart for people, Jesus, and music. As his vision of creating an army of musicians and worshippers for the kingdom has grown, we've been humbled and heart broken by the stories of transformation and healing taking place within the context of a simple music lesson. Touching stories emerged from all ages and walks of life. The heartbreak of physical and mental illness, addiction, suicide, depression, disabilities and loss met with the healing power of music. It birthed in me the desire to give people this experience, this healing, this medicine for the soul. Especially those in our communities so often overlooked. This was the beginning of music encounters IMPACT. - Kay
